Everybody hates having a slow computer. When you get your brand-new laptop, it's blazing fast and a lot of fun to use. But, as time goes by, your computer starts slowing down. At one point your computer will become so slow, that it would be almost impossible to use. But there is a way to fix that. These five three tools will help you make your computer faster.

1. CCleaner

This tool is my absolute favourite. Developed by Piriform, it has been around for ages. This little free program can clean your computer from junk files, fix registry errors, help you manage your start-up items and uninstall unused software. CCleaner is very easy to use, so even new computer users won't have any problems with it.

2. Revo Uninstaller

We all love installing and trying out new software. But only too often we install software that we never use again. And all this installed software takes up disk space. The less disk space you have, the slower your computer runs. Most programs come with the built in uninstallers, but some applications can be difficult to remove. That's where Revo Uninstaller comes to rescue. With the help of this program, you can easily uninstall even the most stubborn software and free up valuable disk space.

3. Defraggler

As you create new files, modify your existing files, download music, videos and photos, your hard drive becomes fragmented. This happens because of the way Windows works. You see, when Windows saves a file, it tries to fill every available little bit of space on your hard drive. To do that, it splits the file. As a result, the file becomes fragmented and little file fragments are scattered all over the hard drive. This means that Windows needs a lot longer to assemble the file fragments and open the files when it consists of thousands of fragments. So, if your applications take a long time to open, it could means that your hard drive is badly fragmented. Defraggler is one of the best defragmentation utilities out there and it comes highly recommended.

4. Autoruns

As you install software, some applications create a start-up entry. This means that they will boot every time you switch on your computer. As a result, Windows will take a lot longer to fully load. This tool will help you identify unneeded start-up items and safely disable them in a quick and easy way.

5. Google Chrome

All right, so this is not a utility. But trust me, installing Google Chrome will speed up web browsing a great deal and thus make your computer usage a lot quicker and smoother.

These five free tools will help you redeem the lost speed and make your PC as fast as new or even faster.
